Last updated 24 August 2026. These terms cover the 1518 iPhone app and 1518.coffee. Using either means you accept them.
Who runs this
1518 is made in Amsterdam by one person. Questions, complaints and disagreements all go to hello@1518.coffee, and are answered by whoever wrote the thing you are asking about.
Your account
You can use 1518 without an account — everything stays on your phone, and a new phone starts empty. An account exists so your shelf, brews and passport follow you between devices.
Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account, and you must be old enough to agree to these terms where you live.
You can delete your account from inside the app at any time — Me, then Account, then Delete account. It removes your coffees, brews, noted bags and passport from our servers, and it cannot be undone. We do not keep a copy for a rainy day.
What you put in
Your coffees, photographs, notes and ratings are yours. You keep them. You give us only what we need to run the app for you: permission to store that content, sync it to your other devices, and process bag photographs so we can read the label.
Do not upload anything you do not have the right to upload, and do not use 1518 to store anything unlawful.
What we put in
The app, its writing, its drawings and the roaster and producer directory belong to 1518. You may use them inside the app. You may not resell the directory, scrape it, or ship it inside something of your own.
1518 Plus
The free app keeps ten coffees and the whole recipe library. 1518 Plus adds unlimited coffees, recipes of your own, and sync across devices.
- Monthly — €4.99, renewing every month.
- Yearly — €39.90, renewing every year.
- Founder — €99 once, for the first hundred members. Not a subscription, and it does not renew.
Subscriptions are sold through the App Store and billed to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. They renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends, and your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the end of that period.
Manage or cancel in your Apple ID settings, not here — we cannot cancel an Apple subscription on your behalf. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
Refunds are handled by Apple under their terms, not by us. If something has gone genuinely wrong, write to us anyway and we will help you sort it with them.
Prices can change. If they do, the new price applies from your next renewal and never retroactively, and you will be told before it takes effect.
What the app is not
1518 predicts how a coffee is likely to taste from what its label says — process, altitude, variety, roast. It says so on every screen that shows one. It is an informed guess, not a measurement, and it is not advice about anything that matters medically or financially. Roaster and producer information is checked by hand and still occasionally wrong; tell us when it is.
Fair use
Do not attack the service, pull it apart to rebuild it, scrape it wholesale, or use it to harm anyone. We can suspend an account that does, and we will tell you why.
When things break
1518 is provided as it is. We work hard to keep it running and honest, but we cannot promise it will never be unavailable or never be wrong. Nothing here limits rights you have under Dutch or EU consumer law — including your right to a working product and to the statutory cooling-off period where it applies.
Changes and endings
These terms may change. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email before they take effect, and the date at the top of this page will move. Continuing to use 1518 after that means you accept the new version.
You can stop at any time by deleting your account. We may close an account that breaks these terms, and outside of that we will give reasonable notice before withdrawing the service.
Law
Dutch law applies, and the courts of Amsterdam have jurisdiction — except where consumer law gives you the right to bring a claim where you live, which it may.
